I am currently reading 'A war imagined' by S. Hynes.
It is a book about WWI and English culture.

Youtube is quite a site!
It seems that there are videos on anything and everything.
I viewed some about Queens University in Kingston, Ont. that were made in the 1950's.
It's interesting to see the changes that universities went from then to now.

The address that I have here is for a video from the McCord Museum in Montreal.
It is about fashion and uses images from their collection.

It has been some time since I blogged last.

First up - Many people like Facebook,however I'm hesitant as it doesn't seem to protect privacy.

After I managed to get the programmes for the databases and podcasting, I can see why they are popular.

"Cooliris" is interesting as it presents page images as a wall. It can get a bit dizzy-like to have them zoom by.

I like the podcasting as I can re-play CBC radio shows that I missed or wish to hear again.

LibraryThing

What I like about the LibraryThing is checking out the Legacy Libraries.
There are listed books that I wouldn't have known about.
This, of course, leads to getting some of these titles and seeing for myself if I want to add them to my list.

Delicious-Social Tagging

I did the Delicious Social Tagging assignment and tagged 10 sites.
Three of these sites are: 1)Textile Museum of Canada,
2)Photographic Studio of William Notman, and
3)McCord Museum, that is located in Montreal, QC.

The William Notman site is part of the McCord Museum.
This would be of interest to the Image Art students as there are online images from the collection, as well as online videos showing the collection, the museum curators, and the history of the 1800's. (ie. fashion).
The site is in French and English.

Also, it is interesting to see how many other people have tagged the sites that I choose for this RULA topic.

Flickr and a Hometown Ghost Story

It's interesting to see the wide range of images available.

The Apple Inc. talk tied-in well with this assignment as the presenters spoke of geotags.
These geotags make it easy to search flickr for any city.
When I searched my hometown, some interesting images came up.

I am amazed that people who do urban exploring - going into decommissioned/abandoned buildings without permission - would be bold enough to post photos of their exploits.

Who knew that a Rula 2.0 assignment would lead to a Hometown Ghost Story.
